well, just the announcement of the new insurance scheme has panicked one and all...but the point to note from the IIK post is that the insurance package will cost a "maximum" KD 130 and reduced packages would be offered for families..this means it is optional and not compulsory...if expat. wants access to the three new hospitals and the 15 health centres then insurance would cost KD 130 otherwise it will be KD 40 only (if there is no minor hike).
With the kind of doctors we face in govt. clinics or hospitals (other than Indian docs) and the standard medicines given to us for all problems, i do not think anybody would be interested to spend hard-earned money on such costly insurance scheme.

We are paying KD 2/ stamp for every hospital visit. It is well enough to cover the Panadol & Amox. Apart from that an average of KD 30-50/- is reasonable for the total health.By the by...we are 550 Thousand people and more than 1000 associations are here for only making getogethers. Any of these association can do any small steps to highlight this issue to the concerned misnistry in asociation with our embassy??? I don't think....they are interested...

Kuwait govt has showered all kuwaitis with 1000 kd bonus and 14 months ration free, and if not enough last month announced 50 Kd hike in salary for all kuwaitis.Naturally they need to squeeze all this money from expat now...God Save us.

for expatriates in kuwait, there is only one medicine and that is 'PANADOL'.and if for antibiotic it will stuck on any normal amoxylin.the real antibiotic as AUGMENTIN and other medicine are for kuwaitis only.the govt of kuwait needs to understand that every body in this country is a wealth for their country.ya ALLAH when these kuwaiti people will understand that, they are not the only humans in this country.i am not mentioning,in the whole world.but only in this country.because out of kuwait, these kuwaitis are a big 'ZERO'.sorry no offense plz.ALLAH has gifted them only OIL,and not heaven.'Innallah ma saabreen'-Allah is with the patient ones.I AM PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN.

Clemsy is right to some extent but not totally and I dont agree 100% with him. This increase is not because of Indians. Our problem is that whenever a law comes, we assume it is only for Indians. The real problem is that many of the arabs (not GCC) take this medical advantage and all of us have to pay the cost. A law affects everyone of us. The Kuwait government wants to control the influx of mainly arab people whose intention is to take advantage of the medical facilities for free. But what do we do.. a law is meant for everyone (expatratiates).

OK, just don't make it mandatory...Let the Govt hospitals compete with the private..for the poor Indians let there be a mandatory insurance coverage by an Indian company @ Indian rates...

She told me stand a corner of that room and she ask what happened. I told my problem, but she did not check me. she give 10 panadol for chest pain. What a treatment? what is the use of equipment?

OK, guys I want to say also. I am in Kuwait since 14 years but I have used Kuwait medical assistance only about 6 - 8 times for small problems like fever & maximum x-ray. That would have cost me not more than KD 50 for all these years. And any major check-up, I fly to India because you know who are the Doctors here in Kuwait and how they treat. Worst Doctors and excellent medicines.

i guess we should address the issue to the Indian ambassador in Kuwait so that he can speak on behalf of the expats that KD 130/per year is very high as the expats are burdened by high rents, cost of living high, education high, salaries dont increase... this is exhorbitant the government just cannot dump this on us and the bylaws are still awaited its now going to be a year wonder for how long we have to wait..

Health centres are the backbone for human beings. It's established to help the society and not to discriminate the rich and the poor. With regards to Clemsey comments, I can only pity him, since he is so ignorants of facts and moreover he is just confused. Clemsey, how many kids you have? Do you think the service is better in Maternity hospitals here, the Mother is kept waiting till she is in pain and agony, the father is not let inside till the visiting hours and at times informed after 4-5 hrs of the delivery of the baby. Go to a local clinic and most of the times, patients are offered Brufen & Paracetamol, without even diagnosing. Every Individual should have a right to decide on his health and the type of insurance he needs, unless to be forced and exploited at the hands of 70% Unskilled doctors. One last thing, Indian Health Care is rated among the top 10 in the world in terms of professional service and cost. People around the world flock to these centres all over India daily and you will be surpised there are many Kuwaitis among them. Jai Hind!!!

I would like to write somthing on Mr.Clemsey's comment.Mr.Clemsey are you Indian or any other national? If you are an indian you can't make such comment or you don't have any knowledge about the indians in kuwait.A recent study about the expatriates says (published in IIK) that around 550 thousand indians are here in kuwait. This figure including a huge number of domestic workers, skilled workers, unskilled wokers, professionals, buissinesmen etc etc.Domestic workers are getting an average salary 50KD per month.Skilled workers who is working in the companies they are getting an average salary KD 150 to 200. Unskilled workers are getting an average salary KD 75 to 125. More than 75percent of indians are coming in these catagory. Can you think that these people can bring their family here to take such advantage from the kuwait govt medical dept (as you described in your comment)? For your information only 10 or 15 percent indians are only having their family here and most of the families are staying here due to some anavoidable reasons only not because of they are rich and they can afford all the expences. You says that all the expats are coming to kuwait to deliver the child. What you think Kuwait is the best place in the world to deliver the child? You know what is an indian have to pay in a PRIVATE HOSPITAL for a normal delivery? An average of Rs 15000/-equellent to less than KD100/-.So please Mr. Clemsey open your eyes and look around you can see somany people are here who is not getting proper salary and they are struggling to live.Don't give your comment on that matter which you don't know anything about. You are encouraging Kuwait govt or Kuwaities to loot expacts more. Really Mr. Clemsey this is not a humanitarian thinking.really sham on you.

this is another way of looting, where 50 was also expensive, now 130.on the basis of wat analysis they have come to this figure? 130? wat have they studied or analised.

can this be stoped?or make it optional?
govt is creating a boundary line between the citizens and expats. long run it will do no good to the country. govt will force the expats to leave or try other means of extra incomes to pay 130 and thus making more corruptions and violations in the country.

Yes Kuwait must levy more medical fees for expatriates because they are taking too much advantage of the cheap medical facility available in this country. In fact Kuwait must charge a sizeable fee for every New Born Delivery. As you can see each and every expat comes to Kuwait to deliver since it is free.
